A lot of what we talk about here on Coventry Vibrations is technology, and business and research, so it’s easy to forget the importance of music. It is at the heart of what we do here, so it seems worth reminding ourselves of this fact from time to time. We are particularly well placed to be reminded of this here in the Ellen Terry building because so much live music takes places here, either performed by students, or invited performers. One such example which I’ve been enjoying today is the Andy Derrick Jazz Quartet. ADJQ play original compositions influenced by such greats as Andy Sheppard, Dave Holland and Jaco Pastorius. It’s a raucous and exciting blend of jazz and funk grooves with hair-tingling brass. Andy is also a great blogger too, so if you’d like to find out about his views on music and life generally, go to his blog.
